SALAAM MASNOON

Normally servant work in houses for washing clothes,
cleaning utensils and other usual household work.
They usually live in a rented house with a deposit
anything between Rs. 25,000 to 50,000 and they also
pay monthly rent as well to the owner.

They earn from the above mentioned household work which only fulfil their basic needs without any money to spare or save.

So can we give such people our zakaat money.

If we had paid such people our zakaat money earlier
without knowing the maslaa what about that.

Please let us know and Allah will reward you.

Dear Brother in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

The people referred to the above-mentioned question are not amongst the Masarif (recipients) of Zakaat. Therefore, it is not permitted to pay Zakaat to such people. But if some one gives Zakaat to them thinking that they are amongst the recipients, the Zakaat, would be valid. (Raddul-Muhtar Ala Durril-Mukhtaar, Rashidah, Kitabuzzkaat Vol 2: 73)

And Allah knows the best,
