When we do (wazu)ablution, we also pass our wet hands on the back of the neck after passing above the head.
Someone from Arab said there is no proof of this action in ablution of passing wet hands in neck as per the Hadeeth,& it should be only head. Please let me know which is correct?

Dear Sister in Islam
The answer to your question is as follows:

To make Masah of neck with the back of middle finger, ring finger and little finger is neither Farz (obligation) nor Wajib (necessary to follow) in Wuzoo but Mustahab (a deed which Prophet (SA) did not practise regularly or which is the practice of Salfe Saliheen). (Raddul Muhtar Alaa Durril Mukhtar V: 1 P: 91-92, Alam Ghiri V: 1 P: 8)

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ibe Umar (RA) that the Prophet of Islam (SAW) said, ¡°Whosoever makes ablution and does Masah on his neck with his hands will be saved from fetter on the day of Judgment. (Sharhu Yahaul Uloom V: 2 P: 365; Elaussunan V: 1 P: 120)

It a fact which is not known to the most of people that all the Ahadith of Saheeh Bukhari are authentic but all the authentic Ahadith are not mentioned in Bukhari. There is a great deal of Ahadith written in thousands of books beside Bukhari. And this fact is admitted by Imam Bukhari himself in his book, Saheeh Bukhari.

Allah knows the best,
