Dear brother in Islam
Wa'alaikumus-salam

To use Imama or cap, or to use both is Sunnah. Though it is not
obligatory yet recommended and desired by the Prophet. To offer Salah in bareheaded state due to laziness is Makrooh. (Shaami v.1 p.474)
The Prophet and his Companions used Imamah (turban) and cap all the time--during their Salah and outside the Salah.
Hazrat Ubadah reported that the messenger of Allah said: you should put on turbans, because they are signs of angels, and allow them to flow
behind your backs. (Baihaqi , Alhadis English version v.1 p. 647)
Imam Bukhari in his book ''Sahih Bukhari'' narrates a Hadith which tells that people(Companions) used to offer Prayers with turban and cap
( Bukhari v.1 p.56 Ref:AhsanulFatawa v.3 p.20)
To be bareheaded has become a fashion nowadays and adopted by religion-violating people. This habit is very bad. Allama Ibn-Jauzi considers it very bad. (Talbees-e-Iblees P.373)
Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (R.A.) says that to be bareheaded in public is Makrooh. (Ghunyatut-talebeen v.1p.13 Ref: FatawaRahimia v.2 p.351)
Thanking You
