bismihi ta'ala sha'nuh
after slaam masnun,
if ones husband wants them to call him by his nickname(out of love)is this allowed? i told him that islamicallywehave been told by our teachers that it is wrong and in almost all the kitaabs on nikah it says the wife shuold not call him by his name (never mind his nickname)this is disrespectful.. howevr i want to make him happy he will not feel like iam disrespecting him and in our society it is also normal to call each other like this so..what shall i do?

Dear Sister in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

Since a wife should respect her husband and calling him by his name or nickname amounts disrespecting him, it is not better for her to call him by his name or nickname. (Fatawa Al-Hindiyyah, Kitabul Kirahiyyah: 5/364) If people lose their morals and form a society where calling elders by their names is normal, such kind of society should take lesson from an Islamic society outlined by the Prophet (SAW). Since our success lies in following injunctions of Allah and practicing the teachings of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
