My relative wants to know that if proposals come from lawyers or Bank employees, should she accept the proposal or refuse as these type of jobs earning is haram.But the boy concerned is namazi, good charachtered & does not do Shirk &Bidat. Please reply at your earliest convenience as she has to give her answer to them.

Dear in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

The expenses of wife are obligatory on husband. If the husband earns livelihood through Haraam (unlawful) sources and the wife neither tries her utmost to convince him for leaving Haraam earning nor she dislikes, but she also uses this forbidden earning happily, both the husband and wife will be sinful in the eye of the Sharia.

The earning of an interest based bank employ is unlawful. But as far as the earning of a lawyer is concerned, is lawful if he/she is sincere with the job and neither takes interest nor tells a lie. If the proposal of a bridegroom, who seems a practical Muslim but his earning sources are unlawful, comes the bride and her guardians and relatives should try to convince him for leaving the unlawful source of earning. If he is convinced and promises to leave, she can accept the proposal otherwise both the parties should think for the alternative. The Glorious QurˇŻan says, ˇ°ˇ­but it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows and you do not know.ˇ± (Suratul Baqarah 2 V: 216)
