A Hindu girl I know is in love with a Muslim boy & wants to marry him & so will become a Muslim as the boy says so.But it is not sure under these circumstances she is wanting to become a Muslim from heart. Also if she reads the Kalma & becomes a Muslim, she has to change her name by an Affidavit. Is it ok to proceed with this marriage? Also should she break terms with her parents & family after marriage as they may guide her wrong later?

The answer of your question is as follows:
Muslims are not allowed to marry Mushrikat (polytheist women) until and unless they embrace Islam and Hindus are all polytheists. The Glorious Qur¡¯aan says, ¡°Do not marry unbelieving woman until they believe¡±. (Suratul Baqarah 2 V: 221) Therefore, in the abovementioned case, if the girl embraces Islam by reading Kalimah and believing in all the injunctions and commands of Allah Almighty and His Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Muslim boy is permitted to marry her.

The admitting of embracing Islam is enough to consider one a Muslim unless one neglects any injunction of Allah Almighty and rejects any teaching of the Prophet (SAW). No judgment can be issued in favour or against somebody on the basis of suspicious. The Glorious Qur¡¯aan says, ¡°O believers, when you go out on a journey in the way of God, be discreet and do not say to anyone who greets you in peace: ¡®You are not a believer.¡¯ You desire the gain of earthly life, but there are prizes in plenty with God. You were also like him in the past, but God has been gracious to you. So be careful and discreet, for God is aware of what you do.¡± (Suratunnisaa 4 V: 94) Allah alone knows what is hidden in one¡¯s heart. We are commanded to avoid suspicious as much as possible. The Glorious Qur¡¯aan says, ¡° O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin¡± (Hujraat 49 V: 12)

It should be noticed that after embracing Islam the girl should not break the ties of kinship with her parents. She must be kind, considerate and courteous towards them even if they command things, which she should not do. The Lofty Qur¡¯aan says, ¡°If they try to force you to associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. Live with them honourly in the world.¡± (Suratu Luqman 31 V: 15) It becomes her responsibility to convince them for embracing Islam. The Glorious Qur¡¯aan says, ¡°O you who believe, save yourselves and your families from the fire whose fuel is men and rocks, over which are appointed rough and severe angels as wardens who never disobey what Allah commands them and do what they are commanded.¡± (Suratuttahreem 66 V: 6)

As per the experience, this kind of marriage causes the anger and displeasure of parents and family, at the beginning but latter on every thing becomes normal if the couple applies wisdom to regain the favour of the parents and the family. And All
