Dear Sister,

The answer of your question is as below:
There are some faiths that a Muslim cannot be a Muslim until and unless he/she believes in them:

1. To believe in Allah almighty that He is one and alone. He is eternal and absolute. There is none like unto Him. To testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Muhammad (Sullalahu Alaihi Wasallam) is His last and final Apostle. This the meaning of kalima ¡°La Ilaha Illallahu Muhammmadon-Rasullah¡±
2. To believe in angels (a creature made of Noor (light). They do not disobey the commandment of Allah almighty and do whatever He commands. They have been appointed for various duties by Allah almighty on the heaven and the earth)
3. To believe in all the Messengers of Allah almighty who were sent down by Allah almighty to this earth from Adam (Alaihis-Salam) to the final Prophet Muhammad (Sullalahu Alaihi Wasallam) whether we know their names or not.
4. To believe in all the Devine scriptures revealed by Allah almighty on His prophets and Messengers (Alaihimussalam)
5. To believe in the Day of Judgment (the day when all the universe will perish and man and Jin will be gathered before Allah almighty for reckoning of their deeds)
6. To believe that destiny is from Allah almighty whether good or bad.
7. To believe in the resurrection (people will be given life aging and they will face reckoning and then will be sent either to paradise or hell)
In short, to believe in all the instructions and commandments of Allah and His Prophet (Sullalahu Alaihi Wasallam)

There are some commandments that a Muslim must practise on them:

1. To establish obligatory Sala (prayers).
2. To observe fast on the entire month of Ramazam
3. To pay Zakat (obligatory charity), if conditions are met
4. To perform Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca.) once in life time when required.
In a long Hadith it is mentioned that ¡®when Gabriel asked the Prophet (SAWS) about Islam, he replied, ¡° To worship Allah alone and none else, to establish Salah (prayers) to pay the obligatory charity and to observe fast on the entire month of Ramazan...¡± (Bukahari V: 1 P: 12)

In fact, Kalima is an agreement between Allah almighty and His slaves. It is obligatory for a slave of Allah to fulfill the injunctions after reciting the Kalima. And Salah (prayer) is the first commandment of Allah placed on the shoulders of a slave after he agrees to carry out the duty of his Master. Besides Salah (prayer) that is daily chore of a slave of Allah, the Sawm (fasting) and Zakat (obligatory charity) are to be done on yearly basis and Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) once in lifetime. If the slave obeys truthfully the commandment of Allah, it means that he is fulfilling the agreement with his deeds. If he doesn¡¯t perform, it means that he is refusing the agreement he made while entering into the fold of Islam. Therefore, a Hadith says that missing Salah deliberately is an act of infidelity.

If a person wants to embrace Islam he should follow the above-described instructions.
He should also preserve the identity of a Muslims like circumcising and so on. For, identity has a great value in Islam. The Prophet of Islam said, ¡° Whosoever takes the resemblance of other nation, he will be considered from that nation¡±.
He should also learn the basic teachings of Islam because it is necessary for every Muslim to achieve the basic religious education.

In brief, one who wants to embrace Islam first of all he should recite Kalima (to testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Muhammad is His last and final Apostle) and then onwards practise on the commandment of Allah and he should wear the look of a Muslim and learn the basic teachings of Islam.

Allah knows the best,
