ASSALAM ALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATUHU,

Respected Sir,

I'm working in a company which works for around 10 hrs minimum per day including 1 hr of lunch and excluding sunday.

Query is, during that 10hrs Asr and Magrib Namaaz is also offered with the congretion(jamaat) at premises(corridor) next to office and the Imaam is one of our staff member. The Imam starts the Namaaz when the Boss arrives for Namaaz. Sometimes we have to bear water shortage at our work place for that we borrow water from our neighbours.During these activities the Namaaz of Asr is delayed by 20-30 minutes according to Mosque's time of Jamaat.

So usually I go to the near by Mosque for Namaaz,am I wrong in going to the Mosque (as said by one of our staff member who is usually the Imam and he is Tableeg Jamaati).According to him I'm making company's loss by going out side to offer Namaaz ,which he says is takes much time which the company is paying to me for.But I have observed that most of our staff members including that Imam of ours waste time during working hours.

If I go to the Boss for the permission to go for Namaaz he may consider this as unethicalo for work.

Earlier I use to work for a nonmuslim organisation where it was too difficult to offer Namaaz and now I'm in a Muslim owned company, So am I taking disadvantage of the facilities he is providing to offer Namaaz with Jamaat in the corridor outside office premises.

I hope that I have explained the conditions in front of me to You and expect for teaching of Yours like I had earlier experienced and benefited from
ALHAMDULILLAH.
WASSALAM ALAIKUM
Mohammad Irfan

Dear Brother in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

There is nothing wrong to go nearby Masjid and perform Salah in congregation, if you are permitted. But if you are not permitted and your working time is prescribed, you wonĄŻt be allowed to spend more time than that you have been provided for performing Salah. This is because, you are paid for the prescribed time and work. Therefore, you wonĄŻt be permitted to go nearby Masjid for performing Salah, if it takes more time than that of provided one. Thus, you should perform Salah in congregation at the premises where other staff members do, or take nothing for the extra time you spend on performing Salah in nearby Masjid. (4/417)

And Allah knows the best,
