Dear in Islam
The answer to your question is as follows:

There are many things, which Allah almighty has created and they are used for treatment of diseases. In Islam, principally, one must believe that nothing can benefit and harm until Allah wills. The medicines and other articles give cure only because Allah almighty has put that effect into it and ultimately it is His will, which cures and heals. So, from Islamic point of view, the stones also might have any kind of effect.

However, I am not certain about what the non-Muslims believe in the stones as you have mentioned. If they believe that stones cure and benefit it is undoubtedly a false belief, a Muslim cannot believe so. Yes, if the non-Muslims have a tradition of using a stone as their religious or ritual practices then it is unlawful for a Muslim to observe the same, since we were asked by the Prophet (Sall-allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) to shun imitating the non-Muslims as he said:

¡°Whosoever will imitate a people will be counted as one of them¡± (Abu Dawood, Hadith No. 4031)
