Mufti Nazar Kaleem Qudsee and Mufti Obaidullah Qasmi

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Hope to be in good health with everybody I also am fine by the grace of Allah.
Brothers there is a question regarding Qur'an Khani ''Is there any proof for this from Qur'an, Hadith or any Imama from four Imam as we Deobandi people do generally after the death of some one e.g. as we have done in Kukha Bazar Masjid after the death of Shaikh Ahmad Ali Assami, whatever the name you give Qura'n Khani or Taziyati Jalsa but question regarding reading Qur'an collectively the way we do.Is it allowed? This was put to me by some one here.

Kindly refer the books and write me in detail.
Hopping your quick and strong reply.

Yours truly
M. Aftabuddin Qasmi

Dear brother , Maulana Aftabuddin Qasmi
Wa'laikumus Salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

We, all, are well and hope the same for you. After a long time I could receive your e-mail. We always discuss about you and about the sweet company we had with you. Now we came to learn that every one has to depart one's dear ones. It is the rule of this material world which Allah applies to all.
However, you put a question regarding 'Qur'an Khani' in which (i) a time is fixed, (ii) some people are invited to gather at a particular place e.g. mosques etc., (iii) recite the Holy Qur'an (iv) collectively and (v) loudly, (vi) in order to send Sawab to the deceased.
Isal-e- sawab through recitation of the Holy Qur'an is valid to Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, and invalid to Imam Shafe'i. (Nawawi on Sahih Muslim v.1 p.324)
In the present form of Isal-e-sawab through reciting the Holy Qur'an (Qur'an Khani) fixation of date, invitation for gathering and collectively loud recitation are such things that have no proof, and hence they are Bid'at and should be avoided. The correct way of Isale Sawab through recitation is recitation without invitation for gathering, fixation of date etc. (Fatawa Rahimiah v.1 p.388 & Ahsanul Fatawa v.1 p.361)

If you want something more, send an e-mail. I will try my level best to satisfy you. Ask your Ahl-e-Hadith colleagues about denial of Taqleed. They deny even Ijma, then how they believe that the Holy Qur'an found today in the world is the same Qur'an which was revealed on the Prophet, while there is no Hadith which says that portion from Al-Fatiha

(p.b.u.h.) upto Al-Nas is the Holy Qur'an. It can be understood only by Ijma and Khabar-e- Mutawatir of Muslims from generation to generation. However, whatever difficulty you find, write down to us.

With love
