Assalamu Alaikum,

Please confirm if my understanding about Iddat period is correct.

1, For Mensurating women 4 months 10 days.
2, For women who are not mensurating 3 calender months.
3, For pregnant women until the child is delivered.
4, For women who did not have physical relationship with the husband
there is no Iddat period.

I will appreciate a reply.

NB: Few days ago I had also requested you to let me know if all brother of Yusuff (Al) were his own brothers or stepbrothers?

Dear brother in Islam

1): The detail you mentioned above about Iddat is correct if only you delete the condition ''menstruating'' in No 1 because Iddat for a widow is 4 months and 10 days whether she be menstruating or not. Following is the clear detail about Iddat.

1, For widows who are not pregnant, no matter whether they menstruate or not, 4 months 10 days.
2: For pregnant widows, until the child is delivered.

Divorcees and with Khula
1: For pregnant women until the child is delivered.
2: For women who are menstruating, three menstruations.
3: For women who are not menstruating 3 lunar calendar months.
4: For women who did not have( Khalwat-e-Sahihah) physical
relationship with the husband, no Iddat period.
(Chapter:2, Verse 234, 228 and Ch: 65,Verse :4,
Shami v.2 p.655, FatawaRahimiah v.5 p.402)

2): Hadhrat Ya'qoob ( p.b.u.h) had twelve sons by two wives. Hadhrat Yusuf (p.b.u.h.) and Binyameen were born from his second wife Raheel, while the remaining ten were from his first wife Layya d/o Layyanl. Thus, only Binyameen was Hadhrat Yusuf's own brother and the rest were his stepbrother, i.e. brothers only through his father. (Ma'ariful Qur'an v.5 p.17,18)
Thanking You
