Mufti sahab I want to know that does the Shariah allows one who is suffering from chickenpox (chechak) to wear gande (taweez). Is there anything wrong with that. What are the conditions for wearing taweez? Jazakallah

In the name of Allah the most Gracious the most Merciful

The answer to your question is as follows:

Yes, it is allowable to treat oneself with Taweez containing verses of the Qur'an. It is alike to treating oneself with medication. We use medication as a means of cure and place our trust in Allah. The effect in the means is with the Will of Allah so, too is the usage of the Taweez. Beware! When utilizing these means, one¡¯s intention must always be to seek Allah's protection. If the belief enters the heart that it is the Taweez itself that brings luck or protection to one, then it is Shirk indeed and must be shunned.

(And Allah knows best
