Assalamu Alaikum

The answer to your question is as follows:

TV is based generally on pictures that is condemned and forbidden in Islam. It is narrated by Abu-Talha (ra) that Allah¡¯s Apostle said, ¡°Angels do not enter a house where there are pictures.¡±
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol: 7, Hadith no. 841).

It causes more harm than it makes benefit. Therefore, in view of these aspects and all other evils such as looking at non-Mahram, watching naked women and other similar sins and vices, it is recommended to avoid television fully and use least harmful means to achieve news and knowledge.

It, no doubt, challenges the human morals and attracts young generation to surrender to the western culture and act upon accordingly. Moreover it is not less than a slow-poison for the destruction of the morals of the community. In view of The Qur'anic verse ¡°O ye who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a fire whereof the fuel is men and stone¡± (Ch. 66: Verse 6)

The message of the mentioned verse is very simple but meaningful. So spare yourself and your family and protect them from fire by avoiding such instrument.
