Dear in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

Allah Almighty is pure and accepts that which is pure. He enjoins believers to eat pure which He has provided for them. The Lofty Qur¡¯an says, ¡°O, believers! Eat of the good foods that We have provided for you. And be grateful to Allah, if indeed you worship Him.¡± (Suratul Baqarah 2 V: 172)

According to the Hanfi School of thought, all the living beings of see are Haraam (unlawful) except fish. As far as prawn (jhinga Machli) is concerned, Hanfi Ulama and biologists too have different opinions: some of them consider prawn amongst the fish while the others regard this living being amongst the insects of sea. Mufti Taqi Usmani, a prominent Aalim and a great Mufti of Indian Sub-continent, is reported in ¡°Dars-e-Tirmizi VO 1 P: 284¡± as having said, ¡°I enquired the specialists of biology about prawn and almost they all unanimously agreed to the point that prawn is not among the fish¡±. So the Hillat (lawfulness) and Hurmat (unlawfulness) of prawn are doubtful. And one should avoid doubtful thing as much as possible. The Prophet of Islam (SAW) said, ¡°Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt¡±. (Tirmizi and Nasai) Therefore, one should avoid eating prawn as much as one can.

And Allah knows
