Dear Brother in Islam,
The answer to your question is as follows:

Whatever you have read in Talimul Islam regarding the offering on graves is according to the teachings of Islam. For, Shariah does not permit to carry out such deeds on the graves, which are not stated in the Ahadith. And there are only two things mentioned in Ahadith; Ziarah (visit) of grave and supplication standing nearby. At the time of supplication one should stand facing Ka¡¯ba so that there would not be doubt about asking the dead person to solve the problems. (Fatawa-e-Hindiah V: 1 P: 166, V: 5 P: 350)

To offer fllowers, perfumes or anything else on the graves may be either for acquiring the pleasure of the saint, following the tradition or decorating the graves. The offering is prohibited in all the three cases. Since it is an act of Shirk to intend to get the pleasure of saint and believe that he would grant one¡¯s request. Likewise, decorating of graves is not allowed because the main purpose of visiting graveyard is to remind one the mortality of this temporary world and the eternity of the life hereafter. Better give the money in charity than spend on purchasing flowers, and then convey the reward to the saint or whom one wishes. (Tatawa-e-Raheemiah V: 10 P: 425)

As far as Waseelah of the saint or pious people in supplication is concerned, is permissible but it is Shirk to believe that they can solve one¡¯s problem. One can take the Waseelah of pious people in this way, ¡°O, Allah solve my problems by the blessing of this pious man¡±.

And Allah knows the b
