Dear Sister in Islam,

The answer to your question is as follows:

During menses period, women are prohibited to perform Salah, observe Sawm, recite the Glorious Qur¡¯an even a small verse, touch the Lofty Qur¡¯an without cover, inter Masjid, the Ka¡¯bah and to perform Tawaf. Therefore, a woman who is not in the state of performing Salah is permitted to perform all the rituals of Hajj and Umrah save Tawaf. She is also allowed to recite all kind of Du¡¯as and the Du¡¯as narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) during this Sacred journey as well as to confer Salah and Salam to the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) standing from a distance and without committing any other forbidden deeds as generally women do on graveyards such as kissing the grave and prostrating over it, seeking favour from the dead person and asking him to solve difficulties and other similar practices which are not narrated from the Beloved Prophet (SAWS) and His companions (RA). (Maraqilfalah 512)

And Allah knows the best,
