Respected Mufti Sahab, Aslaamualaikum,
Hope you are in the best of health by the Grace of ALLAH. Recntly, I heard in a religious gathering of the Sunni Barelvi ( Though I was not attending it) where one Imam said that nowadays some Ulemas do not care about halaal and haram and go out of their way in taking food etc from non-muslims ( kafir). They sit in hotels of non-muslims( Kafirs) and eat sweets, drink tea etc. He said there is clear hadeeth which says that it is totally haram for people ( specially Ulemas ) to eat in hotels of kafirs. Please enlighten on this aspect. Is it Haram for muslims to eat and drink in hotels etc of kafirs. What we see in India, that sweet houses and confectioners are mostly Hindus.

The answer to your question is as follows:

If a non-Muslim prepares halal dishes, food, drinks etc and there was no contamination with haram food or its utensils, then it is permissible to consume that it is prepared by him. There is no such clear Hadith in my knowledge. You should ask that Imam about the reference of that Hadith and then forward it to us. (And Allah knows best)
