Dear¡ in Islam

The answers to your questions are as follow:

(1) The Glorious Qur¡¯aan states: ¡°O ye wives of the Prophet! Ye are not like any other women. If ye keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft of speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease aspire (to you), but utter customary speech.¡± 33/32. Hazrat Amr bin Al-a¡¯as (RA) reports that the Prophet (SAWS) prohibited a woman to talk (to a non-Mahram) until her husband permits. (Tabrani; Ma¡¯ariful Qur¡¯aan, v 7, p 132) Likewise, it is reported that the wives of the Prophet (SAWS) used to talk to believers and guide them in religious matters from behind the curtain. Therefore, though hearing the voice of a Ghair-Mahram woman (one with whom marriage is permitted) is allowed when there is no possibility of Fitnah (non-Islamic and anti-social activity), but it is recommended not to listen and talk to her without any necessity even from behind a curtain. For, it may lead to commit evil deeds. But, when there is a risk of indulging in to Fitnah it is not allowed to hear her voice or talk to her. (Ma¡¯ariful Qur¡¯aan, v 7, p 132; v 6, p 394)

(2) Appearing women on TV and explaining Deen involves more harms than benefits. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid such sources that cause Fitnah and use such media which can serve the purpose of Da¡¯wah without creating ground for Fitnanh like tapes and audio if really, needed.

(3) Hazrat Aishah (RA) used to explain religious matters to the believer men who came to her for an explanation from behind a curtain directly in her voice and sometimes through interpretation by her nephew Ibn Zubair particularly when there was a crowd.
